So you have a question...are you willing to deal with a chatbot? Or are you going to lose your cool?
Some web designers encourage incorporating a "chatbot". This is, in essence, a program designed to interpret your question and, if it matches (or appears to match) a frequently asked question (aka FAQ), to answer it with a pre-prepared answer.
Advantages: If, in effect, your question is exactly, or a version of, a frequently asked question, you will get an instantaneous answer and you will be a happy camper!
Disadvantages: If your question is misinterpreted you will get a non sensical answer and, if it cannot match any of the programmed FAQs, the bot will simply tell you how to contact a human and you will have wasted your time. This annoys some people!!
Best solution: No chatbot and prompt real-person answers. Answers that may go BEYOND your question. Answers that may incorporate questions about your question, assumptions and even some humor! Ok, so our answers won't be instantaneous....Hope you bear with us!
